Rediscovering Yourself Beyond Motherhood: A Faith Journey

What do we hear all day? That's right it's mom and that's a beautiful thing.

But who are you outside of parenting? This may seem like a loaded question trust me it's not. when I had my oldest child, it was easy to be me outside of just parenting.

once you start adding more children to the family you can be buried in the number of moms you hear in a day oh and don't get me started on how many times you can be called mom in an hour.

ultimately this will lead to questions like who I am outside of motherhood well I remember asking myself this after my 3rd child and I didn't have an answer.

I had completely stopped dreaming I didn't have any goals no ambition my aspirations were pretty much cleaning up crumbs and hoping for a nice shower uninterrupted.

when it comes to identity the truth is we do have one I learned that my identity is in Christ Jesus he is the one that Gives me substance we all are searching for substance looking for it in ourselves to show up in the world.

I believe in my heart that the truest substance you can leave behind is love.  love is not an emotion but an action you see a person's identity is made up of characteristic it's not so much about who we are but more so about how we are. We all just want to leave some meaningful substance in our footprints

so, I guess what I'm getting at is. being a mother is a role we are participating in to influence whether you are a mother or have a role as a teacher a doctor or architect the best way to measure your substance is by holding it up to the characteristic of love the bible says.

1 Corinthians 13:4–8

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not

insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but

 rejoices with the truth.

It's easy to get wrapped up in the highs and lows of life trying to climb the ladder of success. The world influences us to be self-made driven over achievers and by any means necessary.

But the lord says in

  Colossians 3:23-24

23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for

human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as

a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

If we keep Jesus as our core focus and meditate on his principles, we will leave behind a substance that our grandchildren find nourishment in for years to come.

Finding Grace in Motherhood: You Are Not a Horrible Mom

with the culture of today you are either it or you Arnt.  I'm talking about the perfect mom culture   It's incredibly easy to feel like you are just not cutting it because you look around and everyone seems to have it together schedules, routines and the social esthetic of motherhood is perfect but in reality, motherhood is messy. It's not beautifully color coded. but it is remarkably beautiful. I'm eleven years into this mommy stuff and let me be the first to say it's always been a beautiful mess. And unfortunately, it's taken me that long to come to the realization that this mess is full of beauty. Maybe you are a little like me and had a expectation of what mom life would be like, and your world was rocked when you discovered your children and life itself care nothing about your vision or your esthetic schedule. I'll admit I was starting to think this has to be a joke and God knew I was never going to be a perfect mom so why call me to this role.  God is ...

How to go from frustrated and impatiently waiting on God to fully content and fully trusting

WHAT WISDOM DO YOU CLING TO WHEN YOUR FRUSTRATED IN THE WAITING PLACE? when your soul is on fire for God it's so easy to find momentum to keep going while waiting on an answered prayer. Well, I get so frustrated with the stop and go. you know when you keep checking to see if God checked your box yet. Maybe you have experienced this same frustration. I had to come to grips with a very ugly truth over the weekend, but I am so Thankful because its true what they say the truth shall set you free.       God reviled to me that the reason I get frustrated in the waiting is because I didn't trust gods timing. It's not the checking to see if he has answered the prayer that is the problem  SEE I BELIEVE GOD IS EXACTLY WHO HE SAYS HE IS. I don't doubt that he is able or that he wants to bless me. God had to show me my heart and finally I understood a big part of my frustration came from my decision to rush gods timing instead of being content knowing that gods in control ...

How to be fully present when trusting God.

Usually when something takes our attention away from the present moment. we like to think of it as a distraction, we can easily become distracted and taken away from the very moments that are in front of us. Perhaps It's because we're either distracted by the future or the past the excitement of becoming or the fear of not going anywhere. Maybe it's the fear of repeating the patterns. Well first I'm going to tell you the single-handed reason we can't find focus and secondly, I'm going to tell you exactly how you'll benefit in the future from the decisions that you make now so let's get into it. If you haven't had a chance to read last week's blog, then you should definitely go over and check it out I'm going to piggyback a little bit off of what I said I broke down trusting God and why it was so frustrating waiting on God when you don't trust his timing. I heard the saying comparison is the thief of joy or something like that I believe i...
